Shiner’s Club Live Night at Adventure Distilling Co.

This was only our second event out in public as Moonshine Bros., and we were still figuring out how to do any of this. We drove up to Adventure Distilling Co. in Cosby, Tennessee for Shiner’s Club Live — a Sugarlands Distilling appearance night that was set up to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. We didn’t take many photos yet, because we weren’t thinking like “content guys.” We were just there to meet people, learn something, and be respectful.
The turnout included more names than we expected. We knew it was a Mark & Digger Bash and a Sugarlands Shiner’s Club Live taping, but we didn’t know how many familiar faces from Moonshiners would actually be onsite. Adventure Distilling Co. had people everywhere talking, catching up, and shaking hands. Nobody made us feel out of place.
After the first wave of fans moved through for autographs and pictures, we were able to catch Moonshiner Daniel Maner for a minute. He’s been on a lot of episodes of Moonshiners and he’s shown up on Master Distiller more than once. Daniel was direct and easy to deal with. No filter. Big Beard tried to be polite and ditch his cigarette, and Daniel basically told him he didn’t care and to relax. That kind of set the tone for the night — nobody acted like we were bothering them. It felt like regular conversation, not a line at a convention table.
One of the biggest moments for us was getting time with Legendary Moonshiner J.B. Rader. We’ve all seen him, heard stories, and watched him get called a legend for years. Seeing him there in person at Adventure Distilling Co., sitting and talking with people, was a real moment. We also got to meet Benny “Tater” McClure and spend more time with Moonshiner Daniel Maner. It wasn’t rushed. It wasn’t staged. Just honest time with people who’ve been doing this for a long time.
What stood out most at Adventure Distilling Co. was how smoothly everything ran and how approachable everyone was. Between the staff, the shiners, and the folks who came out to support the cause, it felt less like a show and more like a gathering of people who care about the same craft. It was a good reminder that these events aren’t just about what’s on display — they’re about the people who make it all work.

Also in attendance was Moonshiner Kelly Williamson, owner of Adventure Distilling Co., along with his outstanding crew who kept everything running smooth from start to finish. Even though Kelly isn’t pictured here, he and his staff were right in the middle of it all — greeting visitors, pouring samples, and making sure everyone felt welcome.
